The author once again shares her vast experience in treating patients with hemiplegia and points to the impressive results that can be achieved when specific therapy to retrain and regain selective trunk activity is integrated into the treatment program. The key to successful treatment lies in regaining adaptive stabilisation of the trunk, and the ability to move parts of it in isolation. The book explains how the loss of trunk control causes difficulties with breathing, speaking, balance and walking, as well as functional use of the arm and hand. Activities to improve these abilities are described.
